Chad Johnson's Birthday Present Negotiations With His Daughter Is a Great Reminder That I Live A Very Different Life Than Rich People
I guess I?could?be mad at my dad for not running a 4.4 40 and having excellent footwork to get?separation?from a CB even if he was pressing on the line, because my birthdays were NOTHING like what you just read above. You know what I got for my birthday? I’ll tell you. How ever many years old I turned, that’s how much cash I got in my birthday card. And it was great. Knowing I was getting 13 dollars and a couple packs of baseball cards for my birthday, and then a check for like 20 bucks from Grandma (RIP), it was all I really needed. Grandma loved birthdays.
But because of his decision not to be an NFL player and then pursue a career in sports media afterwards, I am curious- is that…is?that just how rich people talk? Is this how they negotiate birthday presents with their children? I’m not even mad, I’m amazed. When you’re that rich is it common practice to negotiate for birthday presents like an entrepreneur hoping to score a deal on Shark Tank? I wish Francis was here today so I could ask him, because I’ve literally never seen anything like this. Imagine having the balls to casually ask your dad for “4,000 cash and Gucci clothes”. When I read the tweet, I fully expected Chad to respond with something like “get the fuckkkkkkk outta here”. When he started negotiating with “2k cash and free Gucci” I couldn’t believe my eyes. I guess I just live in a different world than rich people.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate it. I aspire to have that sort of money. I just don’t understand getting more than a delicious ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and some packs of Upper Deck for a birthday. Maybe a nice new sweater, because my birthday is in the fall and as the leaves change, the temperature drops with it. But for sure not $4,000 cash. Ain’t nobody should be asking their parents for $4,000 cash. Get a job, hippie.
